If we assume that each note corresponds to one syllable,

Delay or pull back the time where the syllable begins.

Adjust the duration of the leading consonants.

Syllable Coda
|
Adjust the duration of the trailing consonants.

Syllable Nucleus
|
Warp the syllable nucleus. Useful when the syllable contains a diphthong, i.e. "ay".
