Right-click a note, select Convert to Phonemes, or use the corresponding key-binding to replace the lyrics with its phonetic transcription.
You can also find the same commands in Notes menu.
This operation will not change how the note sounds but offers you the freedom to modify the pronunciation at phoneme-level.
Note that a track has to be loaded before applying Convert to Phonemes command.

You will also see the original lyrics being moved to the comments display beneath the note and when attempting to edit the converted lyrics, the phonemes are preceded by a dot mark in the beginning. The dot mark indicates that the note uses phoneme-based lyrics instead of words.
Use Swap Lyrics with Comments to place the original lyrics back.
Trick: press CTRL + P (or customized key-binding) for phoneme conversion while editing the lyrics.
